Mountain Song: The Story of Jean Ritchie, "Mother of Folk"
A mock cover for a picture book biography of Jean Ritchie, a folk singer and dulcimer player dubbed "Mother of Folk" for her work in preserving traditional Appalachian songs. Born and raised in the Cumberland Mountains of southeastern Kentucky, Ritchie devoted her life to the music of her youth.
The title is my hand lettering, and the Wildy Sans font is by Andika Setiawan.
The Show Must Go On
You know the old saying!
When two siblings prepare for the school talent show, they discover a few snags in the routine. Yet even as their rehearsal falls apart, the children remind themselves that professionals, too, deal with mistakes. (Inspired by many misadventures in youth theater and tech crew.)
